Dr. charles dupre

2021 top educator

Dr. Charles Dupre began his tenure as Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD in 2013. The District is the state’s eighth-largest school district. For more than 61 years, Fort Bend ISD has grown to serve more than 77,000 students at 81 campuses. It is also one of the most diverse in the nation, as families speak more than 90 languages and dialects.

Under Dr. Dupre’s leadership, Fort Bend ISD has developed a strong foundation for success, with a focus on educating the whole child. The District has seen notable growth in student achievement and has increased opportunities for all students, including traditionally underrepresented groups.

In 2018, Fort Bend ISD was awarded the 2018 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award as the best school district in the large district category, and Dr. Dupre was named the Region 4 Superintendent of the Year and finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year in 2019. Dr. Dupre’s influence and expertise has been instrumental during times of great uncertainty, including the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the current pandemic. During these unprecedented times, he has served as a voice for all public school districts and administrators, serving in leadership roles in the Texas Association of School Administrators.

With a passion for serving children and young adults, Dupre has invested countless hours in shaping the future of others, through his role as superintendent, mentor, Sunday school teacher, camp counselor, and friend.

Dr. Dupre and his wife, Seeju, are the parents of two sons and have a grandson.
