TAMI VIENN ALLEN, MS, LPC

2021 TOP P&E

Tami Vienn Allen, affectionately known as ‘The Relationship Coach’, is a native Houstonian who started her entrepreneurial journey at 23 years old in the hair business. Allen comes from a family of entrepreneurs including her parents who inspired her to open her first salon, Elige Salon, in February of 1999, the first of three locations. Allen has had the honorable privilege of providing hair services to celebrities, media personalities, and numerous professional women in the community. During her 25+ years in the business, Allen also developed an online Continuing Education course for cosmetology professionals and was sought out as a leader in the industry.

In preparation for her career change, Allen earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Phoenix, Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Capella University, licensure to practice Professional Counseling, and Mediation Certification in Texas. In November 2016, Allen retired from the hair profession and opened her coaching, counseling, and mediation practice, The Allen Counseling Group PLLC, in Bellaire, Texas. The practice was birthed out of the need to provide quality mental wellness counseling and coaching to the African American community by professionals who look like themselves.

Allen’s coaching and counseling practice focuses on individual empowerment and helping couples communicate about difficult topics that prevent them from moving forward in their relationship. Allen’s clientele consists of celebrities and professionals who desire exclusive and confidential services that insurance does not allow for. Allen also provides mediation services for marital dissolution, co-parenting agreements, and general family disputes. The foundation of her business is to provide a professional, positive, and solutions-focused experience.

In addition to growing her practice, Allen is in the process of writing her first book and developing her nonprofit, Initiating Change, which serves to provide mental health awareness and education to overcome the stigma of seeking and receiving counseling in minority communities through public speaking and journalism. Allen was sought after to consult with the hit TV shows 90-day Fiancé and Married at First Sight.

In her spare time, Allen can be found on the golf course with friends. Allen is president of the Houston Chapter of Diamonds on the Green, an amateur women’s golf league made up of professional women who love the game and have an interest in community service, sisterhood, and supporting the new generation of female golfers. Allen is the mother of two adult children, a son and daughter.
