DR. ROBERTA GRACE SCOTT

2021 TOP EDUCATOR

Dr. Roberta Grace Scott is a distinguished passionate educator with 17 years of education expertise in teaching and administration. She has successfully educated and encouraged students to succeed despite their obstacles. Dr. Scott currently serves as the director of the Social/Emotional Learning & Student Discipline department for the Houston Independent School District. The opportunity for her to lead this work to dismantle the school to prison pipeline and build better lives for students affected by mental illness is gratifying. She has experience working with districts across the nation, where she supports multi-tiered systems to decrease suspensions and increase academic performance at K-16.

Dr. Scott also currently serves as an adjunct professor at Texas Southern University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Texas Southern University; a master’s in counseling and a doctoral degree in educational leadership both from Prairie View A&M University. Through her ability to coach and develop others, she’s been able to move school systems forward, push educators past their limits, and provide others with experiences they can treasure for a lifetime.

She is the founder of No Limit Educators, LLC, which focuses on providing team building, leadership coaching, strategic planning, workshops, and mentoring support. Most recently, she has launched a brand #NoMoreLimits and authored and co-authored three books. She has received numerous awards, grants, and shares her expertise with others by teaching seminars, public speaking events, and serving on a range of educational committees.

Dr. Scott serves on The Way Home (TWH) Continuum of Care (CoC) Steering Committee. The Coalition for the Homeless is the Lead Agency to the CoC, and the Coalition works hand-in-hand to ensure homelessness in Harris, Montgomery, and Fort Bend counties are rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

Her most recent work has been with the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation to build a national movement of parents, schools, and community organizations engaged and empowered to deliver violence prevention programs and mobilize for the passage of sensible state and national policies. She is a member of the National and Texas Alliance of Black School Educators, Houston Livestock Rodeo Lamb and Goat Committee, and Ladies of Golf. She also contributes and adds value to a host of other committees that support the community and all children.

Dr. Scott enjoys life with her daughter Tiarra, a young entrepreneur and leader, and her granddaughter Tinsley. She finds pleasure in spending time with her family and friends.  And she is an avid traveler, which helps her keep a balance and live life to the fullest.
