“I am the child of a single mother and I know the sacrifices my mom made all year long, but especially at Christmas time…. that’s why this annual event is so significant and means so much to David and me. It’s an expression of love, hope, and giving and we are honored and humbled to help make it happen.”

The volume of participant entries was overwhelming with voicemails defending their stance as to why they should be selected.
After receiving over 500 submissions, Godsey, Martin and their appointed team selected their group of 40 women with heart-felt stories of triumph, personal disappointment and even current uncertainties.
Jaslyn Estrada, who was among the group selected, detailed her blessings despite loss and possibly losing members of her family as a result,
“My grandma and my aunt just recently passed away due to covid and my younger cousins, 13 and 6 years old, were on the verge of being placed in foster care. As a 22-year-old, I had to work really, really hard but, I was able to adopt them earlier this year in February,” It has been hard to make ends meet and navigate being a new mother of 2.“
