On Dec. 15 (Thursday), the Houston Museum of African American Culture hosted their annual Champagne and Rib fundraiser.
The sold-out affair’s purpose was to continue enriching the community by offsetting the cost of programming and assist with allowing them to continue to be a free museum in the Houston area.
Honoring Fox 26 news anchors Isiah Carey and Jonathan Martin, the HMAAC showed their reciprocity for the public figure’s continued support of the museum’s growth.
HMACC board member John Guess IV and CEO John Guess Jr. were on hand to introduce the award-winning reporters.
Nine-time Grammy Award Winning writer and producer, Bryan-Michael Cox, served as this year’s host for the lavish event.
Ticket holders were greeted with a champagne sipping bar while perusing new exhibits such as “Negative Women: Four Photographers Questioning Boundaries.” The collection was created by HMAAC’s Chief Curator, Christopher Blay.
It details the works of national and international women photographers telling stories with innovative narratives while staying true to historical anecdotes.
With music provided by DJ Def Jam Blaster and thought-proving lyrics from Neo-Soul artist, Sam Thousand, the event was well worth objective.
Carey echoed saying,
The viral anchor even paid homage to the infamous clip that put him in the comedic forefront of bloopers caught on camera,
The fundraiser was established in 2001 by John Guess Jr. initially for the Contemporary Arts Museum. Recent years have seen the popular event transfer over to HMACC.
