The NCAA and the Houston Local Organizing Committee (HLOC) have teamed up once again to bring forth a positive impact on students in the area.

In the “Read to the Final Four,” the two powerhouses encourage ways to engage youth in school districts across the city to promote and inspire reading with third graders. Like the NCAA tournament, the RTFF is indeed a reading competition. That means, bring on your A-game and hit that thesaurus; we are about to hit words past three syllables.

Here’s how things will play out:

With the remaining school year (2022-2023), third grade teams will compete and earn points based on a blueprint which calculates the average minutes per school, per week. Only the top 68 schools will advance through the next rounds bracket style with prize incentives. A winner will then be crowned on Reese’s Final Four Friday.
