“What a thrill!! Today my partner, Ruby Muñoz Dang and I, along with State Representative Christina Morales, had the pleasure to hand over the keys to a brand new 2022 Toyota Corolla to Rominna Meza, a Raul Yzaguirre School for Success senior. What an incredible feeling to hear the thunderous cheers from the school’s senior class and teachers as they helped celebrate this event. My firm and I were excited to donate the car”, said Gilbert Andrew Garcia.
It started on April 30th at Moody Park as hundreds of high school seniors participated in the first Annual College and Career Day. The event was the brainchild of Representative Morales as students were required to complete a graduation passport with information regarding their future to enter the raffle for the new car. During the passport hunt, the music was rockin’ and Joe Angel Coronado started groovin’. “He came up and gave us a dance lesson, my firm and I gave him a $500 scholarship. We wanted the young people to learn the lesson of taking risks. Today Rominna Meza along with her mother, a custodial worker at the school, were overjoyed with happiness and tears as we handed over the keys. We can’t wait to see her drive to success”, said Gilbert Andrew Garcia.
“Dr. Adriana Tamez, President and CEO of the Tejano Center for Community Concerns and Superintendent of the Raul Yzaguirre School for Success has done an amazing job! The school is in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. They are good kids but it’s important that the business community, especially Hispanic businesses, support these students with mentoring, internships, and scholarships”, said Gilbert Andrew Garcia.
