Houston’s art scene is set for a powerful cultural moment as Black Art in America™ (BAIA) brings its BAIA Fine Art Print Fair back to the city February 6–8, 2026, celebrating history, culture, and creativity in one unforgettable event. Hosted by the Houston Museum of African American Culture (HMAAC) in the heart of the Museum District, the fair will run from February 6–8.
Building on the momentum of previous fairs in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and right here in H-Town, this event brings together hundreds of collectors, first-time buyers, and art lovers to engage with the rich legacy of Black printmaking. Whether you are a seasoned collector or a student looking for your first piece of history, this Houston edition expands BAIA’s mission to make fine art accessible to everyone.
A Celebration of Printmaking The BAIA Fine Art Print Fair is an immersive three-day survey of printmaking showcasing limited-edition fine art prints and original works on paper.
The scope is massive, spanning from the legends of the Harlem Renaissance to the contemporary visionaries defining the future of art.
Attendees can explore the full spectrum of the medium—screen prints, woodcuts, lino cuts, lithographs, etchings, mono prints, and more. This is a rare opportunity to acquire museum-level works at collector-friendly price points, right here in Houston.
Spotlight on Innovation This year’s fair spotlights four standout artists whose practices deepen the visual tradition of Black printmaking:
Traci Mims: Known for bold, politically incisive relief prints exploring resistance and identity (works held by The Coca-Cola Company and The Legacy Museum).
Jamaal Barber: The Atlanta-based printmaker celebrated for expressive, layered compositions and illustrations for Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize–winning The Underground Railroad.
Katrina Andry: A New Orleans–based artist whose large-scale, hand-carved woodcuts confront race, power, and colorism.
Michael Ellison (1952–2001): A master innovator whose rhythm-infused abstractions continue to influence contemporary printmaking.
Celebrating Houston’s Own While the fair draws talent from across the nation, it heavily features the artistic giants who have shaped Houston’s cultural landscape. The extensive list of represented artists includes true local legends such as John Biggers (founder of the art department at TSU), Floyd Newsum Jr. (longtime professor at UHD and Ward 3 icon), Robert Pruitt, Charles Criner, Delita Martin, and David McGee.
