Houston, TX – September 6, 2018 – The Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC) announced the finalists for its coveted Pinnacle and Upstart Awards honoring excellence among African American small business owners in Houston. The finalists were announced at the Pinnacle Awards VIP Nominee Reception held at Partnership Tower on August 31. Each year, ten companies are named as finalists for the Pinnacle Award, and five are selected to receive the honor. For the Upstart Award, there are five finalists and one winner.
The GHBC Pinnacle Award recognizes leading African-American entrepreneurs for their success in business and their positive impact on the communities and industries they serve.
Pinnacle Award finalists include Bee Fit Foods, Black Restaurant Week, The Cox Pradia Law Firm, P.L.L.C., D. Samuels & Associates, Iron Horse Freight Line, Inc., JM Carty Holdings, LLC, Kay Davis Associates, Moore Unique Dermatology, MPact Strategic Consulting, and South Post Oak Recycling Center.
Upstart Award finalists include 4.0 GPA, B’s Wine Bar, Smallcakes Pearland, Tropical Smoothie Café The Woodlands, and Wanderstay Hotels.
Winners of each award will be announced at the 24th Annual Pinnacle Awards, Oct. 6, 2018, at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, located at 1777 Walker St.
In addition to these prestigious honors, the GHBC will bestow several other awards to accomplished businesses and entrepreneurs including:
- Lifetime Achievement Award – Ebony Magazine – Williard Jackson and Lisa Johnson
- Excellence Award – TBK Foods – Marcus Davis
- Larry V. Green Advocate of the Year Award – Donovan Casanave, Shell
- Mickey Leland Entrepreneur Public Leadership Award – Charlotte Kelly Bryant, Blue Triangle
- Endurance Award – Gerald Womack, Womack Development
Bob Harvey with the Greater Houston Partnership and Cheryl Creuzot of Wealth Development Strategies and Percy Creuzot of the Frenchy’s franchise are the event co-chairs.
