It’s rodeo time again! Break out the cowboy hats and boots!
We are so here for it.
The concerts, the food (turkey legs, funnel cakes and deep-fried everything), and the carnival make this the ultimate party with a purpose. Since its inception in 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $475 million to the youth of Texas.
The 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promotes agriculture through its annual, family-friendly experience. The Rodeo awarded its first scholarship in 1957 and has presented nearly 19,000 scholarships since then!
We missed opening night this year, but we did make it to Black Heritage Night to see Cardi B. She was decked out in a pink and blue cowgirl suit with fringes and sparkles – complete with sparkly pink hat and boots.
On her Instagram, Cardi shared that her outfit was inspired by the late great singer Selena.
Cardi put on a great, albeit short, show. She did try to keep it tame and family friendly… for a little while. She dropped a few curse words and hit some “seductive” moves, but come on… Cardi is Cardi. We don’t think anyone expected it to be totally clean.
Cardi B now holds the The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo all-time paid rodeo/concert attendance record with 75,580 fans who packed into NRG Stadium to see the rapper. The previous record was held by Garth Brooks when 75,577 fans attended his show on March 18, 2018.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs until March 17 at the NRG Center. If you want to attend a Rodeo Houston concert, be sure to check out the schedule below and grab your tickets. We’re fans of Santana and Chris Stapleton, so we’ll be back!
