Texas Southern University’s Board of Regents, led by Chairman Albert H. Myres, has begun the selection process to determine who will be the University’s next president. The Presidential Search Committee, appointed by Chairman Myres, will be led by Regent Marc C. Carter. AGB Search, a higher-education executive search firm based in Washington, DC, has been recommended to assist in facilitating the process.
“Texas Southern University has maintained a position of excellence and resilience in spite of last year’s challenges. We have remained focused on our mission and are ready to build on a host of successes to set the next chapter in TSU’s history,” Chairman Myres said.

- Stephanie Nellons-Paige – member, TSU Board of Regents
- Pamela Medina – member, TSU Board of Regents
- Dr. Judith Craven – board member, TSU Foundation
- Dr. Needha Boutte-Queen – Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Joan R.M. Bullock – Dean, TSU Thurgood Marshall School of Law
- Keith Scott – President, TSU National Alumni Association
- Khaniya Burley – President, TSU Student Government Association
- Harry E. Johnson – TSU Alumnus, President and CEO, Martin Luther King Memorial
- Milton Carroll – TSU Alumnus, Executive Chairman at CenterPoint Energy
- John Hofmeister – Founder and Chief Executive, Citizens for Affordable Energy and Former President, Shell Oil
- Dr. Laura Murillo – President and CEO, Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
The University anticipates that the AGB Search consultants will include Dr. Rod McDavis, managing principal; Dr. Carlton Brown, executive search consultant and Dr. Gwendolyn Boyd, executive search consultant.
“We will conduct this process with integrity and an eye toward the future and sustainability of Texas Southern University to expand our footprint in academia, student success, alumni achievement and community service. The Presidential Search Committee will develop and announce selection criteria, a timeline and interview guidelines to foster an inclusive environment that will represent TSU’s key stakeholders,” Regent Carter said.
