HOUSTON — Get your coats and scarves ready, Houstonians!
The City of Houston Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is closely monitoring forecasts for the upcoming cold weather this weekend and next week.
“Based on the forecast, we do not expect this cold front to resemble the winter storm 2021. However, we are working with our partners to ensure resources are in place should conditions change. Our priority remains to ensure the community is ready and to minimize disruptions,” said OEM Director Brian Mason.

In preparation for the colder temperatures, city officials ask all residents to follow these simple steps to protect the Four P’s:
- People: Dress warmly, stay inside when possible, and check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with special needs.
- Pets: Bring pets indoors or ensure they have a warm, safe place to shelter.
- Pipes: Protect exposed pipes by insulating them.
- Plants: Bring sensitive plants inside or cover them to protect against frost.
Currently, no warming centers are being activated. City officials will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the community as conditions evolve.
