Before founding On The Go Medical Supply, CEO Nicole Wilson spent 15 years as the owner and administrator of a Home and Community-Based Services Program, providing care and support for people with Intellectual and developmental disabilities. As she made deeper connections with her clients, she noticed how difficult it can be for families and care providers to get medical equipment and supplies quickly and reliably.
āThat experience not only shaped my understanding about healthcare and advocating for people but also exposed me to the gaps and inefficiencies within the medical supply chain particularly in ensuring timely, reliable access to quality durable medical equipment,ā Wilson said.
Originally, On The Go Medical Supply was intended to serve as a wraparound service for Wilsonās Home and Community Based Program. However, following a profitable sale, the concept was temporarily set aside. It wasnāt until she realized the marketās shortcoming that the idea was revived, ultimately evolving into a standalone venture with a momentum of its own.
āI wanted to create a business that understood the urgency and care behind every order because Iāve lived it from the provider side,ā Wilson said. āThat insight gave me a unique edge in the space and fueled my passion to solve the problem from a different angle.ā
Born out of necessity, and not just another business model, Wilson picked up where she left off with her former program creating meaningful and trusting relationships with people in her community.
āI wanted to build a business that prioritized service over sales,ā Wilson said. āMy plan was to start locally and in the space that I was well versed in, establish trust in the community, and create strong relationships with providers, facilities, and families. I wasnāt just interested in moving product; I wanted to be a dependable partner in care.ā
