HOUSTON — The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will host its annual archery competition for Texas 4-H and FFA members from Saturday, October 19 to Sunday, October 20.

Whereas it was once held before the rodeo, this is the second year the competition is being held in the fall. This allows more students to compete, according to rodeo officials.

More than 400 students between the ages of 8 and 18 will compete for cash and prizes. Preliminary rounds will be held on Saturday, October 19 and the morning of Sunday, October 20. The final rounds will start on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Many of these students are the best in the state at their sport and compete at a national level as well, a news release said.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promotes agriculture by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage, and provides year-round educational support within the community. Since its beginning in 1932, the rodeo has committed more than $600 million to the youth of Texas and education. For more information, visit rodeohouston.com.
