Recently, d-mars.com attended the Inspiration Celebration Holiday Experience presented by McDonald’s on their tour stop in Houston at the Church Without Walls. And the night was like 24K magic. The star-studded, powerhouse line-up included the legendary Clark Sisters, Brian Courtney Wilson, Jekalyn Carr, Donald Lawrence and Kirk Franklin. Also, gracing the stage, gospel artist Dr. Lonnie Hunter served as master of ceremony for the evening.
Houston was certainly grateful for this free – yes free – holiday celebration, especially after weathering Hurricane Harvey, one of the most damaging U.S. national disasters in history. The lines formed down the sidewalk as showtime approached and the crowds poured into the chapel before the start of the show.
This free concert series definitely accomplished its mission of bringing hope and inspiration through song and comedy. The packed-house stood on their feet for the first of many glorious moments when Kirk Franklin hit the stage with his boundless energy. He sang, danced, praised and everyone loved it. Next, he brought out every artist and they all sang together. What a way to start a show. And it kept going strong. Dr. Lonnie Hunter, the host for the evening, kept the audience inspired and entertained all night long.
Not only was the night about great music, it was about giving back. Houston’s own Brian Courtney Wilson, shared videos about the importance of supporting and volunteering with the Ronald McDonald Charities. Also, Mary Redmond, President of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston/Galveston, and Dave Moss, President of the Black McDonald’s Operators Association, offered heartfelt remarks during the evening.
Truly a great night of music, inspiration and celebration. For more information, please click here.
