NAMC holds 6th Annual AFRIFEST in Houston

HOUSTON, TX. October 1, 2018 – Ever wondered why Africans are so colorful, vibrant, full of expression and so diverse?

In partnership with various Houston African communities, the Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC) presents another exciting opportunity for the Houston Community to embark on a cultural journey through Africa and celebrate her rich diversity in a typical African open market setting featuring international live performances, a country tour, arts and crafts, ethnic food and cuisines from different African regions, Ankara cloth fashion, folklore tales from the motherland, kids’ activities, and more fun activities during the 6th Annual AfriFest.

Houston AFRIFEST is a festival that celebrates Africa from Senegal to Ethiopia, Egypt to South-Africa, the peoples of Africa are proud to share their unique and diverse culture with the most diverse city in the United States.

Held on the grounds of Houston Baptist University Saturday, October 27th from 12 pm – 8 pm, AfriFest 2018 will show the Arts, Music, Foods, Fashion, and other varied diverse Cultures that span the continent with over 70 vendors, 15 partnering countries and international acts.

“The purpose of the annual Houston AfriFEST (Festival of African Arts, Culture and Entertainment) is to bring all groups of African descent together to share our culture with the Houston community,” stated Yemi Koyejo, President- NAMC.  “The proceeds of AfriFEST support our educational programs and scholarships for high school students.

AfriFest has been dubbed by the Houston Chronicle as “…the only one of its kind…” In its 6th year running, this year’s AfriFest is expected to be the biggest yet.
