Where: 3131 Emancipation Avenue @ Elgin St

Participants: Omar Reid, CCPPI Chairperson

Why: The  Affordable Housing Operations Center is a public facility that houses a number of organizations that are engaged in affordable housing production, affordable housing advocacy, affordable housing administration, and affordable housing support services, such as housing counseling.

These include the Houston Area Urban League, Avenue CDC, Local Initiatives Support Corporation-Houston and many other city-wide housing organizations. At present, there is no centrally located public facility that can house these organizations. There is also no centrally located public facility that serves as a clearinghouse for affordable housing information and provides a venue for training for nonprofit affordable housing providers. The Affordable Housing Center’s central location makes it is easily accessible to all of the Complete Communities neighborhoods, existing and prospective, as well as the other neighborhoods affected by Hurricane Harvey and preceding disasters.
