100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston: Life After High School Sports
April 8, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Houston, Texas, Saturday, April 8th, 2023: 100 Black Men Metropolitan Houston Chapter (BMOH) is proud to announce the collaborative partnership with The Astros Foundation and the Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash “Black Players for Change” for our annual event in the month of April. This annual event is nationally and locally recognized by the 100 Black Men Metropolitan Houston to address and bring attention to young men and women about the different career options that they have within collegiate and professional sports.
Many of our young men are aspiring professional athletes, however they are unaware of how to get there. More importantly, many are not aware of the challenges on this path and the small percentage of athletes that actually make it to the professional level. We want them to know about all the other opportunities that are available around collegiate and professional sports (athletic trainers, coaches, sports agents, managers, etc.).
Sports Commentator Kevin Cooper will moderate the panel, which will begin with a presentation from acclaimed Cardiologist Dr. Naddi Marah , former Houston Texan Jerome Wells, Houston Rockets executive Zanetta Jones, Former NBA Player Shawn Respert, and Former Minor League baseball player and Astros Youth Academy Coordinator Duane Stelley. As well as other special guestto be announced.
Event attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in live Q&A sessions with the panelist after the event as well as photo opportunities. As well as special opportunities for guest that will arrive early.
