HOUSTON — Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Houston got a little taste of New Orleans at the Delta Education and Charitable Foundation’s Carnivale Mystique Mardi Gras Scholarship Gala in February.

According to the organization, the gala, which was held on Feb. 17 at the Safari Texas Ranch, was a success.

The night featured the N.O. Hustlers Band, Zulu Tramps, a DJ, Zydeco music, a second line, line dancing, two stepping, strolling, vendors, a silent auction, raffle, photo booth and more.

“We were able to raise funds to benefit the foundation’s scholarship programs,” President Pamela Cashaw said. “Without your support, the scholarships and other community projects would not be available. The commitment and generosity of our community continue to amaze us. We look forward to your continuous support and hope you will keep the same energy again next year!”

About the Delta Education and Charitable Foundation

In March 1992, Delta Education and Charitable Foundation (DECF) was founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. DECF has assisted hundreds of young men and women by funding literacy programs, cultural enrichment events, physical and mental health programs, STEM activities, HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives, and need-based scholarships. Each year the Foundation seeks to expand its membership, sponsors and contributors in which such funding allows us to continue our purpose, expand our charitable activities in the community and fund scholarships for Houston area high school seniors.

DECF was organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes but not limited to endeavors in areas of social awareness and cultural development.
