SALVATION ARMY HOUSTON ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF
2018 ANGEL TREE PROGRAM
HOUSTON, TX — The Salvation Army of Greater Houston announces the 2018 kickoff of their annual Angel Tree program. This program has provided Christmas assistance to children and senior citizens in need in the Houston area since it unofficially launched in 1889.
Corporations and organizations can participate in the program by hosting an Angel Tree, decorated with Angel ornaments that represent children and seniors. Interested individuals can adopt an Angel at one of four participating locations or online. Each Angel comes with a name, gender and wish list for giving ease. The gifts simply need to be returned to the Angel Tree location or submitted to Santa’s Secret Warehouse from Monday, Nov. 26 to Wednesday, Dec. 5.
In 2017, Salvation Army Houston received $900,000 in in-kind contributions, fulfilling the Christmas wishes of more than 20,000 individuals.
“The Angel Tree program is one of the most vital donation drives The Salvation Army hosts,” said Alexis Thompson, director of development for Salvation Army Houston. “It involves an entire community — from the businesses that host the trees to the kind people who adopt angels to the children and seniors who get presents under their tree because of it.”
Beginning Nov. 2, Houstonians can choose to adopt an Angel by visiting one of the four locations hosting a tree. Angel Trees open to the public are located at Memorial City Mall, Deerbrook Mall, Woodlands Mall and the Galleria. Online adoptions can be made at www.salvationarmyhouston.org/angel-tree.
