As a platform that has been highlighting small and minority-owned businesses for 25 years, we encourage you to support Houston-area businesses that make the city what it is today.

Here are some locations to consider visiting on Small Business Saturday, which is November 30:

Daisies and Pancakes

Daisies and Pancakes offers custom skate designs and hosts community events. Founder Brandi Myasia designs custom roller skates that reflect each client’s unique style, helps preserve the Third Ward’s roller-skating culture through an inclusive community event, and inspires local youth through accessible workshops and skating meetups.

Gulf Coast Cosmos

Gulf Coast Cosmos is the only Black-owned comic book store in Texas, dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in the world of comics and pop culture. Led by co-owner Alfred Banks, it is Houston’s only Black-owned comic shop. The store’s mission is to celebrate underrepresented voices in the comic book world.

    A cornerstone of the Third Ward community, Doshi House is a cozy café known for its organic coffee and delicious vegetarian menu. Manish Doshi is the owner. The café’s mission is to foster community connections by providing a warm, inviting space for people to gather and collaborate. Doshi House sources organic and sustainable ingredients to create nourishing and flavorful meals. Doshi hosts special events and programs that support local artists and entrepreneurs, making the café a hub for creativity and engagement.
