HOUSTON — Are you a woman who is ready to experience a day dedicated to YOUR health and well-being?
The African American Male Wellness Agency – Houston (AAMWA-Houston) is hosting its Second Annual UPLIFT HER Women’s Wellness Day, a free community health event on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at First Metropolitan, located at 8870 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, Texas 77040.
This event aims to empower over 1,000 women and teenage girls of color to prioritize their health,
offering:
- Comprehensive health screenings (heart, breast, cervical, lung, and colorectal)
- Mental wellness assessments
- Maternal and infant health resources
- A Teen Wellness Zone
- Speakers addressing health equity
- Live entertainment and fitness activities
“UPLIFT HER is our commitment to ensuring women of color have the resources and support they need to thrive, recognizing their crucial role in community health,” Donnell Cooper, Houston Agency’s Executive Director, said.
The event features a network of healthcare professionals, community partners, and sponsors providing education and resources on various health topics. It aligns with AAMWA’s mission to improve health outcomes in physical health, mental health, financial health, fatherhood, and research.
