HOUSTON — How are you celebrating Juneteenth this month?

Houston has a variety of Juneteenth events planned for 2024, celebrating African American culture, history, and freedom.

Here are some notable events to put on your calendar:

1. Jubilee: A Juneteenth Celebration in Song – Taking place on June 8 at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, this event will highlight musical performances celebrating the spirit of Juneteenth.

2. Juneteenth Liberation Market – Hosted at POST Houston on June 13, this market will feature local vendors and cultural activities.

3. 2nd Annual Freedom Run/Walk – Scheduled for June 15 at Emancipation Park, this event promotes health and wellness within the community.

4. Mayor Turner’s Annual Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade – Taking place on June 15, this parade will proceed through the Acres Homes neighborhood, ending at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

5. Juneteenth Celebration at Sunnyside Health and Multi-Service Center – On June 15, this family-friendly event will include cultural performances, food, and music, running from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

6. Juneteenth Culture Fest at Avenida Houston – This festival on June 16 will offer various cultural activities, music, and food, celebrating the diverse heritage of the community.
